Hoe gebruik je een shampoo bar correct? De complete gids

How to use a shampoo bar correctly: the complete guide

A shampoo bar is not a complicated product, but there are a few things that make the difference between good and great hair. Here is everything you need to know about using a Nature Bar shampoo bar correctly.

Step 1: get your hair properly wet

Properly wet, not slightly wet. The wetter the hair, the easier the shampoo bar lathers and the more evenly it distributes. Use lukewarm water, not hot. Hot water opens the hair cuticles too wide and can weaken the hair with repeated use.

Step 2: apply the shampoo bar

Two methods work well:

  • Directly on the hair — stroke the bar a few times over the scalp and the top of the hair. Then massage with your fingertips.
  • In the palms — rub the bar between wet palms until lather forms. Apply the lather to the scalp.

Massage the lather into the scalp with light circular movements. The cleansing is in the lather, not in how hard you scrub.

Step 3: rinse thoroughly

Rinse thoroughly. Shampoo residue on the scalp can cause a white film after drying or irritate the scalp. Finish with a brief cold water rinse: this closes the hair cuticles and adds shine.

How much shampoo bar do you use per wash?

Less than you think. A few strokes over the scalp are enough for short to medium-length hair. A 65g shampoo bar lasts 60 to 80 washes with daily use.

How do you store a shampoo bar?

Dry storage is the most important thing. Use a bamboo soap dish or a sisal soap bag that lets the bar dry between uses. Travelling? An aluminium soap tin protects the bar in your bag.

Why no transition period with Nature Bar shampoo bars?

Nature Bar shampoo bars are made at pH 5.5, matched to the natural acid mantle of the scalp. They behave like a mild liquid shampoo. No transition period. Switch directly. More explanation in our article about the transition period with shampoo bars.
