You've seen the workshop page, seen the price, chosen a date. But how does it actually work? What do you do for those two hours? How difficult is it? What do you take home?

Here is an honest and complete account of what the soap making workshop at Nature Bar looks like in practice.

Arrival at De Hallen

The workshop starts at 10:00 in our soap studio at De Hallen, Hannie Dankbaarpassage 45, Amsterdam-West. Tram 17, stop Bilderdijkstraat takes you there directly. Enter De Hallen through the market entrance and find Nature Bar on the left.

We start with coffee or tea and something tasty. No rush, maximum 12 people so everyone has space to work at their own pace.

What do you learn?

A short introduction to the cold process: what it is, why we use it and what the difference is from industrial soap production. Then you get to work:

You choose your own scent: we work with essential oils and you create your own blend
You choose your colour and design: swirls, layers, scattered with botanicals
You weigh the ingredients, mix the lye solution (with protective gloves and goggles) and add it to the oils
You pour your soap into the mould and decorate it

Everything under guidance. You do nothing alone if you prefer not to.

For everyone aged 12 and over. No prior knowledge needed. Suitable as a solo activity, friends' outing, hen party or gift. Want to come with a larger group? The private soap making workshop is available from 5 people.
